Sentient Beings are Our Beloved Ones

前几日阴雨连绵，还飘了一些雪花，冷而美。
It has been cloudy
and drizzly for days on end with some snowflakes drifting occasionally, which
was cold and beautiful.
Bursts of chill wind and
cold rain blew off many golden yellow leaves onto the ground.
冬日的小城虽然寒风刺骨，但也凉而清爽。
Although the wind is
piercingly cold in such small city in winter, is also cool and fresh.
这场冬雨是伴随着雷声而来的，那时师父正在佛堂宣法，那时雷声低沉而震撼。
The winter rain came with
the thunder when 〇sifu
was expounding dharma in the cultivation place, and the thunder was muffled and
shocked.
天地激荡是一曲雄浑的乐章！
The surging of the heaven
and earth is a vigorous and firm movement!
大自然的力量至阳至刚。
The power of nature is
supremely masculine and strong.
大自然的力量至阴至柔。
The power of nature is
supremely feminine and soft.
大自然的力量阴阳兼蓄。
The power of nature
stores both Yin and Yang.
大自然的力量刚柔并济。
The power of nature
couples both hardness and softness.
宇宙调整是一曲雄浑的乐章！
The adjustment of the
universe is a vigorous and firm movement!
宇宙的能量至阳至刚。
The cosmic
energy is supremely masculine and strong.
宇宙的能量至阴至柔。
The cosmic energy is
supremely feminine and soft.
宇宙的能量阴阳兼蓄。
The cosmic energy stores
both Yin and Yang.
宇宙的能量刚柔并济。
师父喜欢天地激荡！

loves waxing and waning of Yin and Yang!
师父喜欢潮流浩汤！

loves the vastness and mighty of the tidal current!

loves the waning of evils and the waxing of the justice!
师父喜欢万物朝阳！

loves all things exposure to the sun!
师父喜欢亿灵向光！

loves all beings walking toward light!
师父喜欢乾坤朗朗！

loves the universe to be as bright as the sun!
师父喜欢宇宙升扬！

How nice it would be!
《也如空》

冬雷冬雨冬风冷，
转眼雨停日高升。
〇师闲坐观空灵，
空空如也也如空。
So does it

Winter thunder, winter
rain and winter wind is cold.
In an instant, the rain
stops with the sun rising highly.
〇sifu sits down leisurely watching the intangible spirituality.
It's absolutely empty. So
does it.

It is presented to followers
and predestined friends to comprehend.
At 10:30am, 〇sifu will go to rural area to hold a
memorial ceremony for grandma. Now there is still some spare time left,
I’d like to continue to exchange realizations with you.
老奶奶故去时86岁高龄，生命的后几年耳聋脑痴，风烛残年，很是痛苦。
Old grandma died at the
age of 86. During the latter several years in her life,
she was deaf, oafish, old, ailing and quite painful.
师父在老奶奶身上真切的看到了 老、病、死苦，很真切、很痛心、很揪心。
〇sifu
really saw sufferings such as old age, sickness and death from old grandma. It's
really true, painful and anxious.
From the example of old
grandma, 〇sifu
really saw that the spirit realizes that all
is empty after death!
师父在老奶奶身上真切的看到了“人生本是一场梦”！
From the example of old
grandma, 〇sifu
really saw that the life is actually a
dream!
From the example of old
grandma, 〇sifu
really saw that all things are in a state
of incessant change, and all things lack inherent ego-self!
师父在老奶奶身上真切的看到了“生不由己、死不由己”！
From the example of old
grandma, 〇sifu
really saw that birth and death is beyond
our control!
师父在老奶奶身上真切的看到了“人生苦多乐少，以苦为根”！
From the example of old
grandma, 〇sifu
really saw that misery is more than happiness in life, and the bitterness is
root!
如今的老奶奶色身已经静卧黄土三期了。
Nowadays, the physical
body of old grandma has been lying in loess silently for three months.
师父每期都要回乡下老家老奶奶坟头祭奠。
〇sifu
went back to old grandma's grave in the rural hometown to memorialize her each
month.
老奶奶虽是普普通通一个农村妇女，但她老人家养育了师父的父亲，没有奶奶就没有父亲，没有父亲也没有师父这个色身，血浓于水呀！
Although old grandma was
an ordinary rural woman, she fostered 〇sifu's
father. Without grandma, there wouldn’t be father. Without father, there wouldn’t
be this physical body of 〇sifu,
either. Blood is thicker than water!
Whether old grandma,
father or mother, all of them are the Buddhas in 〇sifu's mind!
父亲母亲皆是吾等心中的堂上的佛！
Father and mother are the
Buddhas both in our minds and the halls!
爷爷奶奶皆是吾等心中的堂上的佛！
Grandfather and
grandmother are the Buddhas both in our minds and the halls!
列祖列宗皆是吾等心中的堂上的佛！
Forbears are the Buddhas
in our minds and the halls!
老百姓都懂得“百善孝为先”，吾辈更应当模范孝心孝行。
Even the common people
know that filial piety is
the most important virtue of all, so we should be models
of filial piety.
观经三福第一条第一句“孝养父母，慈心不杀”，吾辈更应当依教奉行孝亲养亲。
The first sentence of the
first article of the three blessings in the sutra of Contemplation on Buddha
Amitayus is respect parents with filial
piety, be compassionate and don’t
kill. We should take care and respect parents with filial piety according
to the teachings.
〇sifu's
old mother is the tutor of 〇sifu.
师父的老母亲是师父的佛陀。
〇sifu's
old mother is the Load Buddha of 〇sifu.
师父的老母亲从小教导师父断恶。
〇sifu's
old mother taught 〇sifu
to cut off doing evils at his early age.
师父的老母亲从小教导师父行善。
〇sifu's
old mother taught 〇sifu
to practice all goodness at his early age.
师父的老母亲从小教导师父宽容。
〇sifu's
old mother taught 〇sifu
to be tolerant at his early age.
师父的老母亲从小教导师父忍让。
〇sifu's
old mother taught 〇sifu
to be patient at his early age.
〇sifu's
old mother taught 〇sifu
to be a man of great talent at his early age.
说到这里，师父耳畔响起了老母亲在师父儿时常说的一句话“人有大气必有大才”。
At this point, one
sentence rang beside 〇sifu's
ears that one will be of great talent if
he is magnanimous, which is often told by mother when Osifu was a child.
因为老母亲是一个农村妇女，没有上过学，是一个文盲。这些做人的道理不知她是从哪里学来的。
Old mother, a rural
woman, who had no chance to go to school, was an illiterate, so Osifu didn't
know where she learned those principles.
“人有大气必有大才”或者写作”人有大器必有大才。因母亲不识字，师父也从未问起。
One
will be of great talent if he is magnanimous, or one will be of great talent if he has high
aspiration. Osifu have never asked since mother doesn’t read.
但大意是明了的。老母亲希望儿子有大气、成大器、成大才。
But the general idea is
clear, that is old mother expects her son to be magnanimous, to become a great
talent and to achieve great accomplishment.
老母亲从来没有说过让师父光宗耀祖，她只希望儿子“平平安安就是福”。
Old mother never told 〇sifu to bring honor to the family reputation.
She just expected her son to be safe and in peace.
老母亲从来没有说过让师父家财万贯，她只希望儿子“平平安安过一生”。
Old mother never told 〇sifu to be a multimillionaire. She
just expected her son to lead a peaceful life.
老母亲从来没有说过让师父出人头地，她只希望儿子“平平安安在眼前”。
Old mother never told 〇sifu to become outstanding. She just expected
her son to be safe and peaceful within her sight.
老母亲从来没有说过让师父荣华富贵，她只希望儿子“平平安安在身边”。
Old mother never told 〇sifu to seek for high position and great
wealth. She just expected her son to stay near in safety.
父亲故去后，师父一直带着母亲在身边，尽心尽力行孝奉养。
After father's death, 〇sifu has been living with mother, and trying
his best to take care of her with filial piety.
Old mother is the person
who is worthy of 〇sifu’s
utmost respect!
师父永远爱自己的老母亲！
〇sifu
loves his old mother forever!
佛在《菩萨戒经》里面告诉我们，“一切男子是我父，一切女人是我母”，所以我们不但要孝顺父母，我们也要把孝顺父母的这个心，融入到慈悲救度一切众生的愿行中去。
In the Sutra of Bodhisattva's Precepts,
Buddha told us: “All men are my father
and all women are my mother”. So we should not only be dutiful to
parents, but also put the heart of being dutiful to parents into the vows and
practices of compassionate salvation to all sentient beings.
观世音菩萨在因地修行时发下大愿，“众生一切男子皆我父，众生一切女子皆我母”。所以他对众生有着无限的悲悯情怀。
When Avalokitesvara
Bodhisattva cultivated on causal ground, he brought forth the vow that all
men of sentient beings are my father and all women of sentient beings are my
mother. So he has boundless
compassion to sentient beings.
“众生一切男子皆我父，众生一切女子皆我母”实则是真真实实的情况，因为我们已经轮回流转了无数劫，在这无数劫中，每一个众生都有可能做过你的父母，也做过你的儿女，你在过去世或者也曾经做过天神，也曾经做过国王，做过乞丐，入过畜生道，入过天堂和地狱，随业受报，六道轮回，奔波不停。
All men of sentient
beings are my father and all women of sentient beings are my mother. Actually, it is the real fact because we have
transmigrated for numerous eons, during these eons every being might had been
your parent, or your children. You used to be a god, or a king, or a beggar, or
an animal, or in heaven and hell. You undergo retributions
according to your karma, transmigrated in the six destinies, and never ceased.
生命流转了无数劫，我们的恩爱情仇也已经不可计数，有的你已经淡忘，你曾经某一世所深爱的人，很有可能是你现世中所最讨厌和鄙视的人，你某一世曾经最敬爱的父母有可能在今生今世就是你的最大的仇敌，没有什么原因，只是缘分的推动，因缘而起，让你们走到了如今的地步。
Life has been
transmigrated numerous eons and the loves and hates have been numerous as well,
some of which have faded away from your memories. The one you loved deeply in
one lifetime is probably the one whom you extremely hate and despise in this
lifetime. The most beloved parents in one lifetime are probably your biggest
enemies in this lifetime. There isn't any reason except the push of karma. It's
caused by karma, which pushed you to the present circumstances.
所以所谓恩爱情仇也不过是一场云烟，最恨的和最爱的、最讨厌的不是一成不变的，只是我们目光局限在了某一范围内，于是爱恨交织，其实当我们以慈悲和大爱的眼光来看，仇和恨并无一定的实在和其本有的实质。都是自己妄心的纠结。
So, the so-called love
and hate is just like the cloud and the smoke（dissipating instantly）. The most hateful, the favorite and the most
nauseous are not unchangeable. The mixed feelings of love and hate exist only
because our sights are confined in a certain scope. In fact the hate and hatred
has no fixed existence and inherent substance when we look at them in the sight
of compassion and great love. All of them are tanglements in your own false
mind.
众弟子有缘人！
All followers and
predestined friends!
吾等应当觉悟：无缘大慈，同体大悲！
We should realize unconditioned
kindness and compassion!
无缘大慈，同体大悲，正是在看破所有的我执之后自然而然的生出的，物我一体的悲悯情怀。
Unconditioned kindness and
compassion are the compassionate feelings of the oneness of objects and self,
which comes out naturally after seeing through all the attachments of ego-self.
放下我执，放下外在的因妄而生的有为法，而去显现出你的真心本性，那就是众生一如的本性。
Let go of the
attachments of ego-self and all the conditioned dharmas outside originated from
the false thoughts, and to manifest your true mind and true nature, which is
the inherent nature that all sentient beings have.
一个无我的人必定忧虑别人的忧虑，痛苦别人的痛苦。所以要众生回归本性，涅槃寂静才是无喜无悲，无恩无怨，不生不灭的常涅槃寂静！
The one with non-ego will
surely worry about other's worries, and fell painful for other's pains. So, all
sentient beings restoring their true nature and nirvana with perfect
tranquility is the eternal nirvana and quiescence, which is neither happy nor
sad, neither love nor hate, neither arising nor ceasing.
回归本性！
Restore your true nature!
不生不灭！
Neither arising nor
ceasing!
回归自性！
Restore your self-nature!
如如不动！
Be motionless!
回归佛心！
Return to your Buddha
mind!
光光相融！
Immerse into the light!
回归性海！
Return to the Nature Ocean!
心心融通！
Integrate into the hearts!
回归宙心！
Return to the cosmic source!
众生皆是我们的多生历劫的亲人，尽心尽力带他们解脱吧！
All sentient beings have
been our beloved ones for many lifetimes and eons, so we should try our best to
guide them gain release from birth and death!
众生皆是我们的多生历劫的家人，尽心尽力带他们回家吧！
All sentient beings have
been our families for many lifetimes and eons, so we should spare no effort to take
them home!
与亲人、家人“手牵手、心连心”，一起回归吧！
Let's return back
together with our beloved ones and our families hand-in-hand, heart-in-heart!
不再沉沦！
Stop sinking!
不再受苦！
Stop embittering!
不再煎熬！
Stop suffering!
不再嚎啕！
Stop wailing!
不再折磨！
Stop being torturing!
不再血泪！
Stop shedding blood and
tears!
不再轮回！
Stop transmigrating!
不再坠落！
Stop falling down!
不再痴迷！
Stop indulging in
delusion!
一起回归吧！
Let's return home
together!
宇宙的孩子们！
Children of the cosmos!
宇宙爱你们！
The universe loves you!
永远爱你们！
Love you forever!
无量爱！
Boundless love!
无量光！
Unlimited light!
无量寿！
Immeasurable longevity!
无量能！
Infinite energy!
阿弥陀佛！
Amitabha!
