More Efforts are Needed
November 3rd, 2011
Chinese idiom “Wen Ji Qi Wu” means
that one rises up upon hearing the crow of a rooster and practise with the sword. Later it is compared to the person who
has the aspiration to serve his or her motherland should rouse to action
timely.
This literary quotation takes its source
at Chin Shu, Tale of Zu Di. It was said that in Eastern Jin Dynasty, the
general Zu Di had great aspiration when he was young. He was always impassioned
and full of righteous anger whenever talking about the current political situation
with his good friend Liu Kun.
In order to serve the country, as soon as they
heard the crow of roosters at midnight, they would put on clothes and rose to draw
the swords and practice martial arts, exercising diligently.
When getting up early, soon after 5
o'clock, 〇sifu could hear sounds of crow outside the window, which reminded 〇sifu of the
idiom story of Rise up upon hearing the crow of a rooster and practise with the sword.
It has been nearly
ten years since Osifu moved in this small town in 2002, and seldom hears the cockcrow
from then on. Today upon hearing it Osifu was touched by a particular feeling
of familiarity.
The neighbors bred
poultries occasionally so the cockcrow could be heard sometimes but always disappeared
after a short period. The cock might meet the ghost of impermanence and kick the bucket, Osifu guessed.
Otherwise, the cock
would fulfill its responsibility to call dawn every day, just as the saying
goes now the rooster has crowed and all
under heaven is bright.
Seeing that the rooster was caught away one by one by the ghost of impermanence before they could hear
Buddha Dharma, 〇sifu is so grieved!
Seeing that the cock
was caught away one by one by the ghost of
impermanence before they had a chance to meet with the Proper Dharma, 〇sifu is so
grieved!
Seeing that the cock
was caught away one by one by the ghost of
impermanence before they had the opportunity to meet with a good wise master, 〇sifu is so
grieved!
Seeing that the cock
was caught away one by one by the ghost of
impermanence before they had the opportunity to meet good friends, 〇sifu is so
grieved!
Seeing that the cock
was caught away one by one by the ghost of
impermanence before they had sufficient bliss and virtue to possess a human body, 〇sifu is so grieved!
The sentence of human
beings have human language and animals have animal language is right.
Certainly, birds
have bird language. Cocks' inner voices can be heard from their crows as
well.
〇sifu couldn't hear happiness from the cocks' crows, except for the
elegies of prisoners.
〇sifu couldn't hear joyfulness from the cocks' crows, except for the
sorrow of animals.
〇sifu couldn't hear the sunshine from the cocks' crows, except for their
expectation for light.
〇sifu couldn't hear free and ease from the cocks' crows, except for their yearn for freedom.
〇sifu couldn't hear the liberation from the cocks' crows, except for their
fear of downfall.
〇sifu also has heard the inner voices of human beings.
Seeing that the human
being was caught away one by one by the ghost of impermanence before they could hear the Buddha Dharma, 〇sifu is so
grieved!

Seeing that the human
being was caught away one by one by the ghost of impermanence before they had the opportunity to meet good

Seeing that the human
being was caught away one by one by the ghost of impermanence although they had sufficient bliss and virtue to possess a human body without being aware of
cherishing them, 〇sifu is so
grieved!
〇sifu also sees that the ghosts of
impermanence are approaching those human beings one by one, while the person himself is still indulged in
the five desires and the six external objects, creating all kinds of evil
karmas. They have bliss and virtue to possess a human body and
hear the Proper Dharma but are unaware of cherishing them and
work courageously and diligently.〇sifu is so grieved!
〇sifu hears their souls crying!
〇sifu hears their hearts crying!
〇sifu hears their true selves crying!
〇sifu hears their primordial spirit crying!
The day has passed, and the life is also
diminishing. Such is like fish in the deceasing water, where is the happiness?
Do make progress diligently as saving the life being burned by the fire. Be
mindful of impermanence, and never idle away!
It's unnecessary for
us to fear the year of 2012, but it is warning us that we should work diligently as saving the life being burned by the fire. Be
mindful of impermanence, and never idle away!
Only by tuning the mind for goodness
can save one’s life, and turn
your bad luck to good whenever anything untoward happens. However, more efforts are needed! How can
disasters and bad luck be dissolved without intensifying
practice after awareness?
Only by tuning the mind to restore
the inner Buddha-nature can one achieve the
ultimate freedom, and get out of the rebirth circle and always be in the Ultimate Bliss. However, more efforts
are needed! How can one achieve the freedom without intensifying practice after awareness?
Only by conforming to the Way with an unconditioned
mind can one attain the ultimate happiness
with boundless light and immeasurable longevity, and unmoved by any outer phases! However, more efforts are needed! How can one
attain the ultimate happiness without intensifying
practice after awareness?
Only by Performing according to the Way can one return home immersing into the light and love, and achieve the
oneness of body and mind. However, more
efforts are needed! How can one return home without intensifying practice after awareness?
It needs our intensifying practice after our
awareness to bring bliss to all under heaven!
It needs our intensifying practice after our
awareness to benefit millions of beings!

awareness to accomplish our missions in this lifetime!

awareness to accomplish the returning!
